Hengnan County Social Welfare Institute

Michael is currently living in the Hengnan County Social Welfare Institute in Hunan Province. According to others that have visited, it is a poor orphanage. That said, poor does not mean that Michael has not received love. The adopted parents that have visited during the adoption process felt that their children were loved by the nannies and well cared for.

I have placed Michael's picture on my dashboard in my van so that I can gaze at it while driving. Not only do I gaze into those beautiful eyes and continue to fall in love but I also pray for God's protection and love to be upon him during this time of separation continually dedicating him back to God. My prayer is that God's grace and mercy may be evident in the way Michael grows and interacts with those around him.

What a privilege it will be to be Michael's Mom and Dad. Words cannot express the humble feeling of being given this opportunity. May God also give us the wisdom to know how to parent him. We know that we will continue to make mistakes as we continue on this journey of parenting.
